This position reports to the Chief of Animal Care & Protective Services. The primary purposes of this position are to examine and triage animals entering the facility, develop and oversee appropriate treatment plans for animals requiring emergency or ongoing medical care, perform surgeries, monitor the health and care of animals housed at the shelter, and act in the capacity of an expert witness in court cases.
OPEN REQUIREMENTS:
- The Veterinarian shall be a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited institution.
- The Veterinarian must be licensed in the state of Florida with license maintained in good standing during employment.
DEA Licensure will be required within six (6) months of appointment and must be maintained during employment. - The Veterinarian must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and sit regularly to perform duties.
- Can perform prolonged strenuous physical activity, including lifting and carrying objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds alone or up to one hundred (100) pounds with the help of fellow employees for short distances.
